1. If you are either planning to rent or buy ask the estate agent if he has experience of dealing with the type of property in question. 5. Ask if there are similar properties in the area to the one you are interested in on the market. If so, this could be an important tool when trying to negotiate a lower selling price.
6. To make sure the money you are being asked to pay out when buying or renting is fair ask to similar properties on the companies books. If the price you are being asked to pay is significantly higher or lower than you need to ask why this is.
7. Finally, ask your estate agent if he is a member of one of the national bodies regulating his profession. This should ensure you are treated fairly.
